Razia's Shadow [Promo]

It's difficult to put the emotionally rewarding art that is Razia's Shadow into words.  Forgive Durden was once tight-knit band, but its members were split into different paths by fate.  But Thomas Dutton was not finished, for while they were touring with their album Wonderland, he had a thunderous masterpiece gathering within the clouds of his mind.

Written by Dutton, with help from his brother Paul, Razia's Shadow is a musical that takes place entirely within the music (with a little help from a narrator).  A story driven by adult emotion, with the imagination I thought only a child could put forth, leaves me content every time.  Colorful and relatable characters (all played by many different musicians, including Casey Crescenzo from The Dear Hunter) immerse the audience in a world all their own, because there are no visuals but those that are created in the mind's eye.

Much like The Dear Hunter (more on this later), this indie rock belongs to no concrete genre.  Yet the music is quite good- something I've never really heard before, but still grounds itself in the foundation of what good musical pieces sound like.

Possibly the best news so far on this new album is that of Dutton's recent blog post.  According to the man himself, he's currently working with a theater on turning this album into an actual production.  There aren't very many details out yet, but I'm keeping my eyes and ears open, because this is a musical I would love to actually see.  This music, and story, come highly recommended.  Please check it out.
