A couple years ago, I went through a post-hardcore phase. I began listening to The Devil Wears Prada and We Came As Romans. I had friends introduce me to Memphis May Fire and Of Mice & Men (which I still believe are two of the best bands in the genre). But I've only recently stumbled on A Lot Like Birds. And I instantly loved them.
You may not be a big fan of the genre, it's definitely not for everyone. People screaming, loud guitars, sometimes too much bass, and a lot of emotion goes into this music. Sometimes they're very angry. And sometimes A Lot Like Birds is the same way. But they're different from other bands in one very key way: They didn't start out as a post-hardcore group, so their sound is incredibly different. Incredible lyrics, amazing vocals and wonderful instrumentation make their album Conversation Piece a masterpiece. It gets better with every listen.
There's not much to say about this group, because so much of their music cannot be expressed through words. But I urge you to try them out. They currently have a single out for the new album, you can listen to it here.
Conversation Piece can be streamed from the Bandcamp page.
